Someone once observed, “God has no grandchildren.” That is to say that no one is a Christian simply on the basis of heredity. We are not Christians because we were born into a home where our parents were Christians, or because we married a Christian. Becoming a Christian is a personal matter that requires acknowledgement of certain truths.

  1. GOD LOVES YOU AND OFFERS YOU A WONDERFUL PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” John 3:16
  2. MAN IS SINFUL AND SEPARATED FROM GOD. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God…” Romans 3:23 “the wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23
  3. JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S SON IS THE ONLY PROVISION FOR MAN’S SIN. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
  4. WE MUST INDIVIDUALLY RECEIVE CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD. “But to as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12

Becoming a Christian involves turning to God from one’s self, acknowledging our sinfulness and trusting God to forgive our sins, and, finally, following Christ in a life of faithful discipleship. For help in becoming a Christian, or to talk with someone, contact our pastor at 286-2948.
