Mt. Pleasant welcomes the opportunity to share in your wedding ceremony.  With a beautiful sanctuary and setting, we can help you make a memory to last a lifetime.

The following policies and procedures are designed to insure that your wedding goes smoothly and respects the faith and tradition of Mt Pleasant Church.

Beginnings.......

All couples who want to set a date for their wedding at Mt. Pleasant Church must first contact the Pastor at (570)286-2948 to clear the date.  The date must then be cleared with Dianne Pope at (570)286-7036.  Once the date is set a $50 deposit is to be mailed to the church, balance will be due at the rehearsal.  This deposit will hold your date.  The deposit is refundable until thirty days before the wedding date in the event of a cancellation.

Next.....

Upon the receipt of the deposit, the Pastor will schedule to meet with you regarding pre-marital counseling.  At this session counseling as well as the wedding will be discussed.

A wedding is a Christian Ceremony.....

All weddings held at Mt. Pleasant Church will be religious in nature, in keeping with the Christian faith and tradition.

The Mt. Pleasant Pastor is the officiant for all the weddings held at Mt Pleasant Church.....

If you would like another clergyperson to assist, please contact the Pastor who may invite the other clergyperson to be part of the service.

Pre-Marital Counseling sessions are required....

While few in number, these sessions are important to remind couples of the blessings and responsibilities of Christian marriage.

No smoking in Mt. Pleasant Church.

Alcohol is not permitted on church property.

Rehearsals are Friday at 6pm...

unless other arrangements are made, this is the normal rehearsal time which allows for sufficient time to have a rehearsal  dinner following the rehearsal.

You need a marriage license...

It may be obtained at the Northumberland County Courthouse, 201 Market St., Sunbury.  Marriage licenses arse good for 60 days.  Please plan accordingly.  Marriage licenses must be brought and given to the pastor no later than at the rehearsal.

Wedding music must be tasteful...

Please keep all secular music in the pre-wedding music section.  Please discuss music selection with the Pastor.

Unity Candles, Sand, etc...

are the responsibility of the couple.  Altar candles will be supplied by the church.

The order of worship...

will be discussed during pre-marital counseling sessions.  You will be asked to select Scripture passages.  Suggestions will be provided.

Photography...

is an important part of the day and will be permitted providing the following rules are followed:

No flash photographs shall be taken during the wedding ceremony.

The photographer must remain behind the bridal party.

Videography is permitted with the same guidelines.

Bulletins...

must be purchased by the couple.  We will be happy to prin the bulletins for your service at an extra charge.

Flowers and decorations...

may be used as long as they are tasteful.  If you want to use the altar vases, please arrange with the church office so the vase liners can be provided for your florist.

Rice, confetti, and bird seed...

are not permitted to be used after the ceremony.  Bubbles, bells, etc. are permitted.  Please check with the pastor if there are any questions.

A final note...

The pastor is the final authority on all aspects of the wedding and reserves the right to overrule decisions regarding the ceremony if they are not consistent with the sacred nature of the service.
